HOW IT WORKS

Convert an image to Minecraft blocks in three steps.

01

Drop in a picture

Use a logo, portrait, character, or any image you want to rebuild.

02

Match real Minecraft blocks

Choose a size and palette. We match every pixel to a real Minecraft block color.

03

Export a Minecraft blueprint

Download the PNG grid, material list, or direct Litematic schematic.

HOW IT WORKS & GUIDE

How BlockArtLab turns a picture into buildable Minecraft blocks

What the converter actually does

BlockArtLab is not a simple pixel filter. After you drop in a PNG, JPG, or WebP image, the tool resizes the picture to your chosen block dimensions, matches every visible cell to a real Minecraft block color from the selected palette, and rebuilds a blueprint you can gather and place. Transparent pixels become air and drop out of the material total, so the CSV reflects blocks you will actually need. Each cell in the preview maps one-to-one to a planned block, which is why doubling both width and height roughly quadruples the gather list.

Why builders use it

Most image tools stop at a stylized preview. Survival and server builders still need exact counts, stack estimates, and a grid they can follow row by row. This homepage workflow solves that gap: preview locally, inspect materials, then export a PNG blueprint or Java Edition Litematic after a free sign-in. The same conversion logic powers wall murals and flat map-art canvases—you pick the orientation before export so the geometry matches the final build location. Bedrock and console players can still rely on the PNG grid and CSV even when Litematic is not available on their edition.

Technical logic in plain language

Under the hood, the converter samples your image into a fixed grid, then finds the nearest allowed Minecraft block color for each sample. Palette mode changes which blocks are candidates: Survival Friendly prefers easier gather loops, Concrete Only keeps a clean saturated look, and Full Palette maximizes visual match at the cost of rarer materials. Orientation decides whether rows map to a vertical wall (X/Y) or a flat floor (X/Z). Export then writes the same grid you already reviewed—so the PNG, CSV, and Litematic stay consistent with each other.

Best practices before you export

  • Crop to one clear subject and raise contrast.
  • Start around 32–64 blocks wide; scale up only if features vanish.
  • Use Survival Friendly or Concrete Only when collection cost matters.
  • Choose Wall art for vertical X/Y builds and Map art for flat X/Z floors.
  • Mark corners and north before you place the first survival row.
  • Test Litematic files in a creative world before survival pasting.

If you need a prompt-first path instead of a source image, continue into the AI Map Maker after conversion. Either way, the practical output remains the same: real blocks, readable materials, and files you can build from.
