How do you choose the right resolution?
Begin at 32 blocks wide for a character, logo or survival mural. Preview the eyes, outline and lettering at normal viewing distance. Increase the size only when an important feature is missing; extra background detail rarely justifies four times the materials.
Keep the source aspect ratio locked. A portrait might be 48 × 64 rather than square, and forcing it into 64 × 64 stretches faces and circles.
What changes as the build gets larger?
Doubling both sides quadruples the block count. Larger grids preserve gradients and small features, but they also require more scaffolding, storage and placement checks. Use a limited palette for survival builds and export the CSV before gathering resources.
For a 128 × 128 flat map canvas, also plan north direction and tile boundaries. Wall art instead uses vertical X/Y geometry.
