Create pixel art for Minecraft Java Edition.
For Minecraft Java Edition, convert the image into blocks, choose wall or map orientation, then export PNG and CSV for planning or a .litematic file for an in-game placement overlay with the Litematica client mod.
1. Convert and inspect the image
Choose dimensions and a palette, then verify the 2D grid. Use the 3D preview only as a spatial check; the grid and material totals remain the construction source of truth.
2. Export the supporting files
Keep the PNG blueprint and CSV list even when using a schematic. They make it easier to audit colors, organize storage, and continue if a mod configuration changes.
3. Load the Litematic
Place the file in the schematics folder used by your Minecraft instance, open Litematica, load the schematic, and create a placement. The mod is client-side; follow its official documentation for installation and controls.
4. Verify version and placement
BlockArtLab exports stable Java Edition 1.20.1 block data using blocks available in later releases. Test in a creative world and check the origin, rotation, and wall-versus-map direction before survival construction.
Java workflow essentials
- Back up the world before testing mods
- Confirm rotation before placing blocks
- Use PNG and CSV as independent references
- Get Litematica only from its official project links
Official technical reference
Litematica is maintained as a client-side Minecraft mod. Verify installation requirements and current releases in the official Litematica source repository.
Build it with BlockArtLab
Upload your image once, compare the 2D blueprint and exact material totals, then export the format that fits your edition and build method. Unlike a visual-only pixel filter, the result is meant to be constructed. Conversion stays in your browser and requires no account.
These choices respond to recurring builder questions about exact material totals, direct schematic output, and resizing, flat maps, and large exports.
