Litematica Testing · Updated August 6, 2026
How to test a Litematic in a creative world.
Before building in survival, test your Litematic in a creative world copy. Check the origin, rotation, and wall/floor direction to avoid wasting materials.
Why test in creative first?
- Verify the schematic loads correctly
- Check that origin and rotation are correct
- Confirm wall vs floor direction matches your plan
- See the full build without gathering materials
- Fix any issues before committing survival resources
Step-by-step testing
- Create a creative copy — Open your world to LAN with cheats, or use a creative flat world
- Open Litematica — Press M to open the Litematica menu
- Load the .litematic — Navigate to your file and load it
- Check the placement — Use the placement overlay (M + Y) to see ghost blocks
- Verify origin — Make sure the build starts at the right position
- Check rotation — Rotate if the build faces the wrong direction
- Confirm direction — Wall (vertical) vs floor (horizontal) should match your plan
Common issues and fixes
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Build is sideways | Wrong rotation | Rotate in Litematica before building |
| Build is floating | Wrong origin | Adjust origin to ground level |
| Wall instead of floor | Wrong direction selected | Re-export from BlockArtLab with correct orientation |
| Missing blocks | Schematic incomplete | Re-export from BlockArtLab |
